The Museum of HP Calculators

Additional Files for Some Users' Library Programs

These documents are reproduced here with the permission of Hewlett-Packard.

.PCL (Printer Control Language) and .PS (Postscript) files may be sent directly to printers that support those languages. These files are more likely to produce barcodes that can be successfully scanned than the .PDF files. These files are meant to be sent directly to the printer. (This typically involves using the copy command in Windows or the lpr command in Unix environments.) The Museum is unable to provide support for using these files. Please either search for instructions for your computer on the Internet or stick with the PDF files.

Acrobat Distiller Warning! If you have Acrobat Distiller installed on your machine, then the default action when opening a .PS file might be to render the .PS contents to a .PDF file of the same name. That action would attempt to overwrite the existing .PDF file, which contains the program scan and instructions. If you have Acrobat Distiller, you may wish to start it and go to File->Preferences and check "Ask to replace existing PDF File".

.RAW and .TXT files work with some emulators. .txt files are also human-readable.

Missing Pages

Some contributors omitted blank pages from the scans and others kept them. While the scans have been browsed for readability and completeness, due to the size of this project, there may be missing or duplicated pages. Any missing pages that are later discovered and scanned will be posted at www.hpmuseum.org/cdupdates/ for downloading.

Acrobat/Browser Issues

If you find that the Acrobat plug-in for your browser is slow, you may prefer to run the stand-alone Acrobat reader. Download the appropriate reader (see above), go to the manuals directory on the CD and double-click the appropriate pdf file.

Searching in Documents

Most of the files are searchable. Because the search terms were built using OCR, some words will inevitably be misrecognized and not every use of every word will be found. Some combinations of browser and Acrobat reader plug-ins do not allow searching. This can usually be cured by updating your software. Alternately, you can disable the Adobe Acrobat reader plug-in in your browser, which will cause it to launch the full version of Adobe reader.

Please use your browser's back button to return to the previous page.
